Troubleshooting

OTP Didn't Arrive

What to do when the one-time sign-in code never shows up in your inbox.

If you tap Send code and the email never arrives, walk through these checks in order.

1. Check spam and promotions

OTP emails come from support@usescribble.com. They sometimes land in Spam or the Promotions tab. Search your inbox for "Scribble."

If you find it there, mark it as Not spam so future codes land in your main inbox.

2. Confirm you typed the right email

The most common cause is a typo. Tap back and re-enter your email carefully. Watch for:

  • Missing letters (@gmial.com instead of @gmail.com).
  • Wrong domain (.con instead of .com).
  • Extra spaces at the start or end.

3. Wait one minute, then request a new code

OTP emails usually arrive in under 30 seconds. Occasionally they're slower. Wait a minute, then tap Send a new code. Old codes stop working — only use the most recent one.

4. Check whether your email is on the roster (schools only)

In a non-Alpha school, a student can only sign in if their email is in the school's roster. If you've never been added — or you were archived — codes will never arrive.

Ask your teacher or school admin to confirm your email is in Students on the dashboard.

5. School email filter (schools only)

School email systems sometimes filter out senders they don't recognize. If you're at a school and multiple students aren't getting codes, ask your IT team to allowlist support@usescribble.com.

6. Mailbox is full

Some shared family inboxes hit their storage limit and bounce new mail. Clear out old emails or contact your email provider.

7. Contact support

If you've worked through all of the above and codes still aren't arriving, email support@usescribble.com from the affected address. Include:

  • The email you were trying to sign in with.
  • The time you tried.
  • Whether you've gotten codes before.

We'll check delivery logs and unblock you.
