Roster Sync Visibility

How to read the Alpha dashboard's roster sync status, what 'linked' and 'unlinked' mean, and what staff can and cannot do.

The Alpha dashboard shows roster sync status so staff can see which Timeback students are wired to Scribble student profiles. The dashboard is read-only for roster — staff manage students in Timeback, not here.

Linkage status

Each Timeback student shows one of two statuses:

  • Linked — A Scribble student profile exists for this Timeback student. They can sign in and practice.
  • Unlinked — Either the student hasn't been synced yet, or the sync failed. They can't sign in until linkage is in place.

Most students show Linked within minutes of being added to Timeback. Unlinked is rare and usually short-lived.

What staff can do

  • View linkage status for every Timeback student.
  • View per-student reports for linked students (XP, streaks, LPM, legibility).
  • Trigger a re-sync if linkage looks stuck (rare — sync runs continuously already).

What staff can't do

  • Add a student profile manually. Add the student in Timeback instead.
  • Delete a student profile manually. Remove or archive the student in Timeback.
  • Change a student's email, name, or class assignment. Edit those in Timeback.

If linkage is stuck

If a student stays unlinked for more than 30 minutes after appearing in Timeback, contact support@usescribble.com with the student's Timeback email. We'll check sync state and unblock them.

When a student is removed from Timeback

When Timeback removes a student (graduation, transfer, etc.), Scribble unlinks their profile at the next sync. The student can no longer sign in.

Scribble keeps their learning history. If they come back to Timeback later, sync re-links them and their progress is intact.
