Alpha Schools
Alpha Overview
How Alpha-network schools use Scribble: Timeback SSO sign-in, synced rosters, and what the dashboard shows.
Alpha schools use Scribble differently from generic schools. Students sign in with Timeback SSO, and rosters sync automatically from Timeback. Staff don't add students by hand.
Is this you?
Only schools in the Alpha network use this path. If you're a regular school without Timeback integration, see School account overview instead.
What's different from a regular school
| Alpha school | Non-Alpha school | |
|---|---|---|
| Student sign-in | Timeback SSO through Google | Student email + one-time code (OTP) |
| Roster source | Synced from Timeback | Created manually on the web dashboard |
| Adding/removing students | Done in Timeback, syncs in | Done in the Scribble dashboard |
| Billing | Handled through Alpha | Per-school plan |
What staff manage
The Alpha dashboard is for visibility, not roster CRUD. Staff use it to:
- See linkage status — which Timeback students are linked to Scribble student profiles.
- See course linkage — how Scribble is wired into the broader Alpha course structure.
- View per-student reports — XP, streaks, LPM, legibility — the same reports a non-Alpha school sees.
Staff cannot add or delete student profiles manually. That happens in Timeback.
What students see
When a student opens Scribble on iPad, they're prompted to sign in. They enter their Timeback email, continue through the Timeback/Google SSO popup, and then land on their profile.
There's no one-time code step. There's no profile picker - the student's Timeback identity maps to exactly one Scribble profile. If it's their first login, Scribble asks for avatar and handedness setup before the home page.
When linkage doesn't work
If a Timeback student exists but their Scribble profile hasn't synced yet, they'll see a sign-in error. Wait a few minutes — sync runs continuously. If the issue persists, contact support@usescribble.com with the student's Timeback email.
