Getting Started

What Scribble Is

Scribble is a handwriting practice app for children learning cursive on iPad. Here is what it does, who it is for, and how long it takes.

Scribble is a handwriting practice app for children learning cursive. A student signs into their account on iPad, and the app guides them through a structured curriculum of short lessons, reviews, and warmups. The server keeps each student's learning state, so progress is always saved no matter which iPad they pick up next.

Who it's for

Scribble is built for children five and older who:

  1. Can already write in print.
  2. Can hold a pencil for short, focused sessions.
  3. Can read or listen to simple instructions written for a six- or seven-year-old.

If a child is still learning to print, or cannot yet hold a pencil with control, Scribble is not the right fit yet. Come back once they can write the print alphabet legibly.

What's in the curriculum

The full curriculum is about 20 hours of practice, based on data from our pilot program. Children typically work through it across several weeks of short daily sessions.

The end goal is 25 or more legible letters per minute in cursive. We measure two things to know when a child has reached that goal: how fast they write, and how legible each letter is.

How access works

Scribble is distributed through an unlisted App Store listing. Family purchases happen on the web through Stripe. After purchase, we email you a link to download the app on iPad. Each student profile has one year of access from that profile's purchase date.

Refunds

We offer a 7-day, no-questions-asked refund. Family refunds are processed through Stripe. See Requesting a refund for the steps.
