Getting Started

Installing the App

How to install Scribble on iPad from the unlisted App Store link and sign in for the first time.

Scribble is distributed through an unlisted App Store listing. You will not find it by searching the App Store — you need the link we send you.

After you buy access, we email a download link to the address on your account. The email comes from support@usescribble.com. Check your inbox and your spam folder.

Didn't get the email?

Search your inbox for "Scribble." If it's not there after 15 minutes, contact us at support@usescribble.com from the same address on your account.

Install on iPad

  1. Open the email on the iPad you'll use for Scribble.
  2. Tap the download link. The App Store opens to the Scribble listing.
  3. Tap Get or Install. You may be prompted to sign in to the App Store with the Apple Account that will own the app.
  4. Wait for the install to finish, then tap the Scribble icon on the home screen.

First launch

The first time the app opens, you'll be asked to sign in. Which sign-in flow appears depends on your path:

  • Families: Enter the family email, then enter the one-time code we email you. Choose the student profile.
  • Non-Alpha schools: The student enters their own email, then enters the one-time code we email them.
  • Alpha schools: The student enters their Timeback email, then continues through Google SSO.

Once signed in, the student picks up wherever they left off. If it's their first login, the app asks them to choose an avatar and handedness before the home page.

One device at a time

A student can be signed in on one iPad at a time. If they sign into a new iPad, the old session ends. This is by design — it keeps progress in one place. See One active session for more.
